So, I had the opportunity to read and discuss a story today entitled,
"the Dandelion Story". I would share a link to the story but my initial search engine did not yield a result and I am not about to continue looking....
Understand this, the surface story was about a man who could not get rid of his dandelions, he slaves over the course of years to get rid of the dandelions....he cannot get rid of them. At the end of the story he finally solicits advice from the Department of Agriculture who retort with "learn to love the dandelions".
Essentially, the story was a metaphor for life and I loved the subsequent conversation! It was boisterous and wonderful. We spoke on a deeper meaningful level that we all have dandelions in our lives that we must accept and adjust to and eventually learn to love.
Life is not about things being without negativity or "weeds" - we have to learn to accept change and beetroot accordingly. Change for the good or change for the bad but for God's sake - CHANGE!
Life's dandelions can be people, places, or things - healthy or unhealthy habits. Heck, dandelions can be that one event in your life that you just have not yet dealt with that is holding you back in life..
So - Learn to love the dandelions - people because these are the experiences that shape us!
I end this blog with the Serenity prayer because it gets me through the day:
God, grant me the serenity to ACCEPT the things I cannot change;
Courage to CHANGE the things I CAN; and the WISDOM to KNOW the DIFFERENCE!
These words are simple and poignant....
Be blessed,
Eunice
