And without further adiou, or appreciation for my corny-ness, I present to all of you unadoring fans, the ramp rat version of the night before christmas..... Ok, so I lost the first one I made many years ago and this will hafta make due till I can remember the good one......
Twas the night before christmas, and all across the ramp
The airport was quiet, the night slightly damp.
When out on the tarmac, a noise echoed round
t'wasnt mainline nor regional, but a very strange sound.
I raced to the computer, but nothing on the screen
all across the board, the airways were clean
I ran out from ops, to find this diversion
But this one was different, an older school version
The nose light was red, and the flight deck was tiny
The langing gear short, and the fuselage shiny
Exiting the high speed and turning to my gate,
This baby was vintage and loaded with freight.
I marshalled it in and the pilot set the brakes
He quickly hoped off with a case of the shakes
The night air was cold, but his flight gear looked warm
Guess it gets cold, flying through a snow storm.
He called in his fuel, was that carrots he said?
Then here came the fueler, some stoner named red
He missed not a beat, as red gased up his ride
and looked over to me, for my neon vest he had spied
He said not a word, as he offloaded his sleigh
And then on the ramp, all my presents he laid
Fresh batteries, and a scanner, both night wands and day
New steel toes and a vest, this guy was okay!
I stood there in silence, a complete loss for words
He even had presents, for all the ramp birds
Then done at last, he returned to his crate
His ground time was short, and he'd hate to be late
On Boeing, on Lockheed, on Raytheon, and Fokker!
On Piper, on Airbus, on Embaraer, and Hawker!
He started his engines, all green - one through eight
And turned without jet blast, leaving me at the gate
The night IFR and as he taxied his bird
The weather was rough, but he seemed undeterred
He chose runway 4, and took to the night
Contact departure, "and to all a good night!"
You tend to get bored between flights sometimes....... And all of redhedd.com shall suffer my boredom as well hahahahahaha
