My newest sought after birdie, the hawk-headed parrot. BEAUTIFUL and BRUTAL birds.
They are carnivores by nature. While they an be very affectionate when raised in captivity, they are also predators. Our local pet store has one, and her name is Helga. She's not for sale, unfortunately. She's very talkative, and she LOVES children. Or so it would seem. The owners were telling me that she lures children over because she wants to attack them. She clucks and says I love you and laughs at them. But her head feathers will perk up like this picture. That's a defense mechanism. How fecking brutal is that? Talk about Hansel and Gretal. Gretle? Whatever.
Anyway, if they are raised correctly, they make lovely pets, even for children. :D
And I want one.
