Bugs, Birds and others
Posted On 09/25/2008 19:42:35 by Philly
For those who are interested, I had a Messenger chat with Ei (Redei) earlier, she and her sister and brother in law have arrived in Las Vegas, and were waiting for the rental they had organised. Just in time for a late lunch, and to wait for the fourth member of the party to arrive.

So I'm now in my 4th week of antibiotics, and I get the impression that if it doesn't show signs of improvement soon then I may be admitted to hospital for stronger intravenous antibiotics to be administered - which would suck.  That and I've been ordered to rest the leg as frequently as possible.

There's been a little bit of speculation as to what bug actually bit me, and the consensus is a dragon fly, they can have an adverse affect on people - something in the bite that the human immune system can't tolerate.

Anyway on a more positive natural note, I have been hearing bird noises coming from my loft space again, definitely starling like, so it looks as if the squatters are back for the winter

Cheers for now.

Awww, thanks guys.

Any living thing will defend itself against what it perceives as an unwarranted attack, and if you were faced by something that could kill you without a seconds thought wouldn't you shoot first and then ask questions?

Jules, there are no spiders here in the UK that could do this kind of damage to a human - correction yes there are, but in private collections and zoo exhibits.

Jerry, I'm glad to know that should the population die out here in the UK there are other starling populations that we could repopulate from.

Lunar, the British starling population has fallen by 66% since 1970 and yes there are still 807,000 breeding pairs here in Britain they are still classed as endangered, and as my house is starling friendly the cat stays out of the loft...

Strange man.... I've never been bit by a dragon fly and we have tons 100 feet away down at the lake.... Had plenty of them land on me from time to time even.... They just kinda sit there and then fly off. As for the squatters..... Eh, just let the cats up there.

We have a lot of starlings in our yard around here and they like to poop all over every thing.

I do hope that they don't have to admit you to the hospital. That would not be fun at all....sending you some good thoughts to get better.

Yay starlings!! BOOOOOOOOOOO dragon flies!! Dang, I didn't even know they were biters. Or stingers. Or whatever-ers.

Are you sure it wasn't a spider? My mom sure had a helluva time last summer with that brown recluse bite.

I do hope you get to feeling better, Philly, and that you don't have to go into hospital

Positive thoughts and hugs!
