Well I know it's a combo phone and ipod but what is the big deal and how much do they cost? My oldest know insists she has to have one or she will die!
Hey now! Hold on... apple products are known for failing?!? WTF? The only reason they fail is because of peoples ignorance. I use MACs and UNIX daily for the past 7 years... I now loath to use windows. I haven't turned my MacBook off once in the 4 months I've had it. I'm no vegan pacifist Mac lover, but I do know they do not fail. And just for the record, I just like to start arguments. So this is for fun :-)
PS. I have a MacBook, but I don't use MacOSX... I use FreeBSD Unix look it up, haha. The iphones are pretty sweet, but I wouldn't get one for my kid... such a waste.
Wow, so many uninformed opinions. Not one from someone that owns or used an iPhone.
The iPhone is an Apple product that combines a phone with an iPod. It uses a new interface called multitouch, that allows you to use your finger as an input device. Do yuppies like it? Yes. So do ballerinas, pilots and lots of other people.
Here's a link http://www.apple.com/iphone/
Ithad a lot of hype in the US leading up to its release in June, but many feel it lived up to the hype. It has an 80% satisfaction record and countless positive reviews. Everyone I know that owns one loves it. Is it for everyone? Of course not.
When you factor in the cost of a average 2 year cellular plan, its cost over those same 2 years is the same, cheaper than some even. Remember most plans include the cost of the phones you see advertised for $49, $99 even the free phones are subsidized by the cellular companies. Do the math if you don't believe me, add up how much you pay for an average plan over 2 years plus any phone cost. The plans start at $60 a month for the iPhone for 24 months, equals $1440 plus the phone cost, $400 in US, $1840 over 2 years. An equal data + voice plan from Verizon starts at $80 per month or $1920 over 2 years, plus $149 for a phone. There are cheaper plans for phone with less features than the iPhone.
I know this is kinda long and more than you probably wanted to know, however, decisions should be made with real facts if possible.
I like a Mac computer, but I don't know that I could ever spend $500 bucks for a PHONE.
If I get hired on permanent, I would get a super-cheap phone and FREE service; that's the only way I'm going to get a super-stoopid phone (and I'm not a yuppie, I swear).
They're dumb and expensive. If you have a computer and a cellphone, you don't need an iphone. It's a bunch of crap that yuppies buy to make themselves look important. Barf.
It's essentially a hand-held computer. Phone, music, internet/email, camera (and may be camcorder, I'm not sure), and might even be phone-as-modem which gives you broadband speed for your lap-or-desktop computer. Also, calendar, task list, address book, etc.
Also games.
Pretty much anything that you can do on a 'pewter, you can do on an iPhone.
And it has a cute (and supposedly intuitive) interface where it seems as though you are moving all the data around with your fingers, which apparently, people love.
You might also check out the Sprint Touch. It's not QUITE as robust, I don't think, but it's cheaper and faster, too. And it opens up into a triangle, so that's cool.
If and when I get one of those hella-spensive "phones" I think I'm going to go with the Sprint Mogel. For blogging and email, donchaknow.
Be aware that iPhones are notorious for being VERY slow and repairs are NOT CHEAP EITHER.
But, those who got the "good" ones cream their jeans over them. Daily.
I think it is Macintosh based. Carmen wants one too.I guess giving her my cell phone when she was visiting any friend's house was not a great idea. Any Mp3 player should suffice. If they cannnot pay the bill, they do not need the plan.
