Hum hum... I quit. Those who were following my (mis)adventures through this month already knew I would do it today. And I did. It was surprisingly smooth... (Yay!) Anyway... day started as very boring, I was counting the minutes... and ten minutes, wishing for some time-altering device... and it stayed boring. Until before the team meeting. I caught my team leader and told her the sad news. She was actually kinda nice. (I told her I just can't do it because of various reasons... I was nice... she was nice. She's a chainsmoker with the occassional drink or a dozen on the side, so I guess she understands why I want out.) The others got fed some story about my uni getting all bureaucratic on me (I also mentioned that to my team leader as one of the excuses and she got the message.), and they were really really sad.
I understood why when our team leader said she heard from her boss that some people from the team have handed in their resignation and are looking for other jobs. It all shocked her because she didn't know. Seems like our their team is not as happy as it seems to be. Or maybe we all are just plain Hungarian and can't stomach the fake smiles and fake happy, glowy attitude... Take your pick. So... they all do the fake smile and fake sympathy thing until they get a nice job elsewhere... and then run as fast as they can. (That's how I survived up till now... Ok, I was a bit snarky, but still very funny and nice and smiled a lot. My facial muscles still hurt.) Anyway, my mentor totally ignored me after I was outed (as in got told I'm leaving), and she started strutting in front of the guys. (Course next week she's gonna be married so she has to try it with every guy... well, it's logical. But still eugh.) And then I had to compose a letter saying I quit (one sentence... wow) and after that I was free to go. You have no idea how happy I felt. I was practically floating. I still am. So now I'm gonna dig out those 30 or so books and read them all for my final exam. One and a half months will do.
