So I'm iffy about getting pierced and tattooed. Don't get me wrong.. I love them. As far as piercings go though, mine don't seem to heal. I'm allergic to the metal? And as far as the ink goes.. I just don't know what to get.. and I just need inspiration. I want something meaningful.. blah grrrrrrrrr

I don't like colored tattoos that much. I want something classy.. if that makes any sense..I would want it in black maybe ONE color, depends. I would never get writing on my body, or a face done, like of a specific persons .. I'm more prone to asian styled calligraphy and stuff like that. And also something small and hidden. I don't want to get older with all these tattoos showing and ugh, me no like. lol

A lot of men get memorial tattoo's for a family member that has passed on.

I know if I ever got one, it would be a small dragonfly and in a spot that could be covered or exposed like the shoulder or ankle.  A name of a boyfriend or husband usually never works out well.

Large tattoos look really bad when you see them on a 60 year-old women. They are usually fagged out, faded, and just makes the women look like she is trying to recapture her youth.

Sketch, draw, doodle, think about your life, make a list of what you LOVE (like animals or books or cherry trees or whatever) and definitely draw it up yourself.

And like Sin said: research. Research your little red ass off.

And think long and hard about placement. Draw on yourself or have someone draw on you with ball point to "try it out" for a day. Oh, yes, and as Hills, I think, said: start small. You can always get it made bigger or covered up, so the smaller the better.

Good luck, and I hope you come up with something you will love! And welcome to the monkey house (the monkey house being the addicted to tatoos family you're about to join).

Haha, thats so true though. I mean, when I'm old.. do people think I will really care???? I've been told they're addictive.. oh well... I'll start small. ;) I'm gonna try and keep the ones I get (if I get any??) in places that I can cover, because I'm getting them for me.. not too show off, and i'll look more presentable as far as work goes.

I have a tattoo on my boob (got that one for the fiance...lol) and a lot of people say "When you're old and wrinkly it's gonna look horrible!" And I say, "Well, my boob is gonna look gross when I'm old and wrinkly regardless of weither or not there's a tattoo on it!"

You can ask to be pierced with gold if you're having an allergic reaction.

I agree with you on the tattoo thing.. My tattoo's... well...two of the three are meaningful to me.. and I put them in places where I can cover them so that I can maintain a job....haha... The problem is, it's highly addictive and once you get one, you will want more..

Thats one of the things that keeps me stepping me back, Donna. lol I keep thinking, "will I like it this many years from now". Honestly, I change my mind so much it scares me to think I wouldn't like it. So it has to be something I'll always love and be fond of.

It has to be something that has meaning to you. Just remember whatever you get......will you like it 20 years from now?

Absolutely.  I designed mine myself and it has very special meaning to me.  I love it, although I am sure it's not for everyone.  Mine took 2.5 hours and let me tell ya it was a long 2.5 hours.

Thanks, yeah I've been really trying to find something.. I love cherry trees.. but when I research I don't like the ones I see.. I guess I'll have to draw one up myself

Only you can choose something meaningful to you as a tattoo.  Think long and hard and be sure to research the place you plan to have it done.  Be sure to look at other pieces the artist has done. Research, research, research!  Good luck!
