Maybe you should become a wildlife rehabiltator.  It sounds like you would be good at it.

No good.. No humane society here, and no wildlife rehabilitators either. No avian vets, so they wouldn't even know how to treat the poor thing.

I don't blame you for trying to help him. I would have tried to help him too.

If you call vets or the humane society in your area, they may be able to point you to a wildlife rehabilitator. They will care for the bird and either let him go if he heals OK or they will find a permanent home from him. I've often wondered about wildlife rehabilitators. That would be interesting caring for all sorts of injured or abandoned wildlife babies.

I'm in love with him. It's amazing that you were able to get him onto your lap. And if he lives on the patio, that's not technically a "pet," right?

I think he must know that you're helping him.

Oh, it's so sad, though. I hope he is eventually able to fly again.

Well it's rough trying to keep a sling on a wild bird. But I've been able to get him in my lap twice today and take alittle petting. Disinfected his wound. I don't think he'll ever fly again. But we'll see. I know It's illegal to keep them as pets. But with only one wing I can't see letting him go out on his own. It would be birdy suicide.
