I was in Detroit about 2 weeks ago and had tickets to see the red wings play.

Before the game started I thought I would grab a beer which was good stuff indeed Molson Canadian.

I went to pay for it and asked the, who I thought was kind lady if she would except Canadian money at par.

I didn't think this would be a problem since our dollar was so strong.

She told me to take my colour money and go some were else

I was in shock ..

Now my question to my friends, neighbours to the south WHY do some of u dislike Canadians so much ??????

Exactly feoxorus, I agree - the exception. What we need to realize is that for so long the US dollar have been worth so much more than the Canadian dollar and with the sudden change it is gonna take a toll.  I wouldn't take it to heart Rye, you don't know where that was comming from.  Perhaps someone in her family lost their job due to the economy and the high Canadian dollar or perhaps she is just not a nice person.  Either way, I would just not worry about it too much!

That was rude. But then, you were in Detroit. I think that city has some real issues that have spread into the mindset of the gen'l population. That said, I used to have a problem with Canadian coins being slipped into my change at stores, which then would not be accepted at the next establishment - but its been years since the last incident like that. It seems like she had a problem. I find it hard to imagine that there is a prejudice issue against Canadians, our nations have a history of respecting each others' borders and laws - unlike our Mexican and S. American neighbors. I'd say shake it off and try not to let it bother you much, she was the exception and not the rule.

What a rude person.  I know around here the banks would not take the Canadian money. Every time I bring in change, they give the candian coins back to me telling me they cannot take them.  I guess some places are now being told not to take the change.  Years ago when I was a cashier, we were told to accept the candian coins, but to pass them on to the next customer asap.  I don't think its a dislike for Candians. It's just hard getting rid of the money because banks will not take it.

UNacceptable!

I know a lot of places won't take Canadian money, but she did NOT have to be rude to our ryeguy!

Me, I love Canadia (yes, CanadIa). Never having been there, of course, but from what I've heard, it's real good.
