This is an entry in response to the website http://www.godhatesfags.com/
I would like to say this to begin with. I am a Christian. I understand
that there are many stereotypes that are associated with the radical
section of the religion, but I would like to let everyone know that I
am not a radical Christian. I do, however, call myself a liberal
Christian. By that, I mean that I believe that the bible is something
that can be formed and shaped and moved. The bible is fluid in a
sense... I am liberal in the sense that I am open-minded and accepting
of others, no matter what their religious beliefs or lack of religious
beliefs may be. I say that I respect you and you respect me.
Being a liberal Christian, seeing this website makes my blood boil and
my stomach churn. Not only is this website one of the most seditious
and vicious websites that I have come across, but it is also one that
is based on lies. The first thing that I noticed when I found this site
was the glaringly obvious fallacy in the name itself. "God Hates Fags"?
How can God hate 'fags' when the truth is that God is nothing but love.
"Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love" (1 John
4:8). A force who is love can not feel hatred; something can not also
be its opposite. Light can not be dark, good can not be evil, and love
can not be hate.
Also, knowing what I know about the love of God, I can also say that
those who claim to know God must act in the manner which God would have
them act. God wishes for all of his children to be filled with love for
each other, for that is what he feels for each one of us. The people
who run this abominable website have forgotten a clearly stated command
of God. "Do not repay anyone evil for evil... Do not take revenge...
'It is mine to avenge; I will repay,' says the Lord" (Romans 12:17-19).
No Christian should ever claim to follow the will of God if their
intent is malicious underneath.
Another thing that I find absolutely appalling is that people keep
using a verse out of context when they try to justified the persecution
of homosexuals. The most famously used verse is as follows, "Do you not
know that the wick will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be
deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters no adulterers nor
male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy
nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of
God" (1 Corinthians 6:9-10). That is where everyone stops when they
quote this verse against homosexuality. The truth is that if you
continue through verse 11, all rights itself. "And that is what some of
you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified
in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God" (1
Corinthians 6:11). The bible just shows that by the love of God and
Jesus, ever sinner, no matter what the sin, is saved and washed clean
of their sins. Never did it say that homosexuality is something that is
not forgiven. God forgives all sins if you believe in Him and his Son.
If you believe that Jesus died to save you, then you are washed of your
sins. Period. End of story.
End religious rant. ~Robyn McHenry *Highly encourage you to pass it along! Please repost of you agree!
