Do we REALLY need to know...

Lately, it seems that every movie trailer tells you, "from the director of (insert insipid movie title here)."

I'm just wondering...why?

Is this new movie the SAME as that other movie?

So if I hated that other movie, I'll hate this one? And vice versa with the love?

I think they're trying to tell me (only me, not you, hehehe) that this new flick has that same sensibility as the previous flick.

But...it's a dangerous game, yo. Because "from the director of Hitch" isn't really going to get my ass in the seat for the new "Kate Hudson is still Skinny/Matthew McConahey used to be Clean and Risk-taking" flick.

Movie directors: they're trying to make them the new rock stars, I think.
