Partially moved, almost there
Posted On 01/18/2013 00:44:33 by Magdellena

The move happened so fast that I wasn't able to acquire a new home! As a result I and the minions (my preschooler son and toddler daughter) are now staying with my in laws while The Mister is four hours away starting a new job and house hunting for us.

It has been a week now. It's been... different. This is the longest I have ever been around these people, full stop, let alone around them without their son as a buffer... and under their roof and all? They do not know what to do with me. They are sweet enough, I suppose. Old Money American Southerners, they have an "estate", I am not taking the piss! Huge multilevel house (we have been given the run of the upper floor as the in laws are in their 70's and do not fancy dealing with the stairs) on acres and acres of land... a garage for working on cars, a workshop for small aircraft along with a private airstrip, an orchard, small vineyard, a huge vegetable garden, a private lake, woods and woods and more woods. Miles from any other houses or people. Nearest neighbors are cows, horses and deer. So, it's not all bad.

However, I have no car of my own and for the most part just have to stay put as the in laws tend to have people come to them and not the other way around. I can beg a ride but not drive any of their myriad of cars for some reason. Bit of a bird in a gilded cage feel to things at the moment.

When we do see people, I don't stick out looks wise. A HUGE portion of the Mister's family are red heads. So that is nice. However I feel distinctly FOREIGN more often than not. Loud Mouthed Highland Lass in the Deep South, the adventures...

My life feels like I stepped into some strange book at the moment... what sort of book I am uncertain of yet but the plot points are piling up...
