The world around me: I've found that it's very hard to find people who don't mind you cutting through the bullshit of life and getting down to brass tax. I don't like, nor do I practice the art of, "socially acceptable behavior" when it comes to things that just don't matter in the long run. Who really gives a rat's ass if I let my daughter get a mohawk and color it blue? Does it change who she is? Does it make her any less intelligent? Did it change who I was the moment I got a tattoo? Or maybe the second one did something? Nope. I was blessed with parents who saw that there were bigger problems in life than a weird haircut, piercings, tattoos. Possibly parents today should stop trying to micromanage their children and/or being their friends and start being what they are...their parents. I would absolutely LOVE to be out of a job when my son gets to school and I go back to work. But I just don't see the need going away...I see it getting worse. I'm pretty sure "job security" isn't anything I need to concern myself with right at the moment. We're breeding a generation of morons who think that it's just fine that they're ignorant...as long as their parents can bully their way into a job that will support them way above the level that most people scrabble by on now-a-days. *sighssssssss*
My View On Smoking~n~Drinking:
I started smoking when I was 13. As of this evening...I smoke no longer (Guess I'll have to go change that on my profile!). The state I live in is trying to pass a smoking ban in all public places whether they're indoors or out. Half the government is trying to keep the ban out of the places that have liqour licenses, the other half is hell bent on banning smoking anywhere and everywhere. It's going to be a long fight and my prediction is that eventually the state will get the ban passed and 3/4 of the people who still smoke will quit. THEN the state is going to be in a pickle. A VERY LARGE portion of the money the state collects each year is taxes on cigarettes and that will be **puff** gone. Hehehehehe I can't wait to hear the screaming from the legislators then!!! As far as drinking goes...I'm all for a wonderful night out or in, having a few...or a few too many...and enjoying myself. But I've learned I have to be careful and that's something that a lot of people don't know about themselves yet, I guess. I didn't know for a long time. My children mean more to me than a beer does, if it comes down to it (which it hasn't ever...but "what if"?)...but damn, it sure is nice to grab that cold Guinness and relax!
My Thoughts On Discussing Politics and Religion:
Bring it on! I love a good discussion no matter what the subject! I love it enough that in college sociology class I took the position that prostitution should be legalized just to get everyone angry and yelling. The prof stopped me after class, told me it was one of the best classes he'd had in a long time...and then looked at me and said, "You don't really believe what you said, do you?" I told him...I'd never really thought about it before. I got an A in that class! LOL
Ok, enough writing for now.
