&nb; sp; When I was 16 years old, my cousin had
invited me to attend a two week long church camp with him. So while I was there I made a friend who was determined to "hook up" with someone before he left. A week and a half passed... very boring. Then he comes into the dormitory telling me that he found "THE ONE". And O" what he was going to do to her.
&nb; sp; Later that evening, he pointed her out through
the crowd. There stood the most beautiful, sweetest brown eyed female that God ever created. My first thought was that there was NO WAY she was going to go for him. The more crude sexual remarks he made about her, the more I wanted her to stay away from him. Finally, later that night I prayed (like a selfish kid) that I might find someone like that. I wanted badly to get up the nerve to speak to her, but I just could'nt.
&nb; sp; The next day, she left early and went home
with her church. I was heart broken of course, until I found her name tag on a window sill. It said "Renee". No last name was given, but it did give the name of her church.
&nb; sp; The minute I returned home I searched for
her church. It was just a couple miles away from where I lived. The only thing I could do was to write her a letter. I mailed it to the Pastor of the church begging him for his help to find this girl named Renee and deliver this letter to her.
&nb; sp; It was the fourth of July. When the phone rang,
I already knew it was her. I answered the phone with an unsteady voice, and she said Sam... this is Renee. Ect. ect. ect...
&nb; sp; Funny thing about this was that she had never been to that church before. She, like me, had just been invited to the camp with a friend. On the morning she received my letter, she was'nt going to go to church that day. She said she just felt an urging, so she went. Needless to say the Pastor didnt know who she was.
&nb; sp; We dated all through Jr. high, then High School,
and were married a year after that. Its been 17 years since I first met her. 12 since marriage. And she is exactly the same as I remember her that summer day at camp in 1991.
