Crying Over Internet Peeps
Posted On 05/10/2008 03:50:07 by FamilyJules
Someone I know and LOVE dearly recently expressed amazement at my admission that I've cried over internet people, and verily have "fallen in love" with them, as well.

(He knows the feeling, trust me; he'd never admit it, but he does.)

Thing is, these are REAL people, online here. Well, at least a goodly portion of them are.

And once you get a little bit of online time under your proverbial belt, well, you start to get a sense of who is being "real" and who is, well, not.

And the "real" people? They exist! They're out there, just like I'M out HERE (OVER here? RIGHT here. Here. Whatever.), and, well, they're...um...real.

So of course people touch us, if we let them (minds OUTTA the gutter just this once, please), and so of COURSE some of us cry over them. When you feel something for someone; when emotion is involved; when you freaking CARE, of course you cry.

Or at least I do.

And it STILL hurts and sucks and blows and BITES when people you love and care about and feel a connection with just kind of disappear.

Always will, whether it's online or "IRL."

Sincerely,

Jules; QUEEN of the Superfluous BLOB (yes, "blob" cuz they ain't all "blogs")

K bye.

I've met some wonderful people on the net. And I've cried because of them, and for them, and with them. Of course we're real. And you, Jules, have a big open, loving and compassionate heart.

Well I kinda agree with you and then again I kinda don't.  Depends on the situation, I guess.

For me I could never have a true passion/love for someone over the internet.  Of course I could have a friendship and I've made many friends on the internet, some of whom I've really met in real life and hung out with.

But when you open up a friendship with someone online you HAVE to be thinking that for whatever reason you may not EVER meet this person and you may not EVER actually connect with them outside of the virtual world.  You have to be conscious of these things and if you can do that then you won't get hurt as much.  Yes, most of us are real people, but you gotta realize that you'll never meet 99% of us and even though you may love and care for someone on here they are probably not gonna love you back.  Take EVERYTHING with a grain of salt on the internet and you'll be alright.

aww, I wub all y'all, too!

I met fantastic people from the net......some have become very grand friends.

Yes I'm real, but when I'm not online I'm actually REALMAN...

wussie. lol. hmmmmm

They are apparently making this video game called "Home." In the game, you get an apartment and there's a store and a whole 3D environment, but it's a networking community. So in the game, you are this virtual person and you go and meet with other virtual persons that are real people.

Talk about a gift to the socially inept!

Anyhoo, what I am trying to say is that eventually our whole lives are going to be digital man, and anyone who thinks its absurd to cry over "internet people" has no right trying to make what they don;t consider real firends with you.

So there.

thbbt.

I love you.

Yes, we are all real; unfortunately (or fortunately) we can't actually"talk" to each other but the words on your screen are from real people.  Thanks,Jules.

Thanks, Brandi, I kinda love it too! (Just in case I've not, ahem (lol) mentioned it yet, heehee.)

Jules, you are certainly correct in saying that yes we are REAL people on the other end of the screen. I think that sometimes people get so caught up in things that they forget that.

And I know that this has nothing really to do with this blog, but I must again tell you how much I LOVE the painting of my kids.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Little, you're one of the realest of the REAL, for REALS.

Wow, that word has no meaning anymore
