HELP - CALLING ALL COMPUTER NERDS
Posted On 08/23/2008 12:42:35 by Philly
Like Jules last week, it's been my turn for computer woes. I switched of last night in the normal manner, and when I switched back on, today, it would only load in safe mode. So I dug out the recovery discs and reinstalled windows - infact I went one better, I upgraded from XP home to Proffessional. Now it's all going swimingly apart from the network card - the laptop will read it, the software runs but it stubbournly persists in staying disabled. I know I'm going to kick myself very, very hard when you tell me what I should have done. For those who are interested the system details are: Toshiba Sattellite 3000 running XP Proffessional - no updates, and the card is a Belkin wireless G+ . I would be so grateful if someone can help - before I loose any more hair . . . .

I, too, know nothing about computers.

I recommend going to bleepingcomputer.com. Create an account and post in the forum, and someone who works there will walk you through it step by step. ^_^

Just for curiosity, are you using a wireless network? I have a close variation of your Toshiba and had the same problem with my wireless card a year ago... I had to get a driver update for my card and then do some wireless network tweeking in XP.
