Things are definitely different here

Well, I've been in L.A. for a month and I can officially say that I've been Cali-fied.

For starters I've been to some really cool places. A couple of days
after I got here, we went to Belmont Beach to see the new apartment
we've been looking at and to play in the ocean. We went to Universal
Studios for my birthday. I've been all over downtown Long Beach just
walking around and finding cool stuff to do and see (walking to the
bookstore is still my favorite though). We've driven through Signal
Hill a few times and its really pretty. I've seen the Queen Mary and
LAX. We took the Metro through downtown L.A. and saw a bunch of the
places in the movie "Volcano". And last weekend we went to Venice
Beach. It was absolutely incredible. The beach is amazing. Richard
giggled at me because I couldn't believe how many seashells there were.
Then we walked around all the shopping places. They have such weird and
cool stuff there. There was a crazy guy talking to himself and a couple
of psychics and a ton of realy cool clothing and shoe shops. Richard
kept stopping to look at wooden buddhas and monkeys. It was such a
blast! Venice Beach is definitely my favorite place in L.A. We've
decided to move there instead of the beach place here.

But aside from all the neat places here, I've undergone some changes
myself. First of all, I seem to have accidentally gotten a tan while
doing all of this walking around. I actually do my hair using a blow
dryer and hair products (which if you knew me in Tulsa means hell has
officially frozen over). I don't really wear makeup anymore, although
I have started wearing lipgloss and two different shades of eyeliner,
which is just strange cause I never really wore it before except when I
had to. I'll soon be dyeing the underneath part of my hair dark red.
I've started wearing slightly bigger piercing jewelry in my ears rather
than normal earrings along with any other chunky ethnic jewelry I can
find. I bought charcoal grey, cargo-capri pants because I refuse to
wear shorts and I also got black and white polka dot espadrilles
(espadrilles are like part of the California uniform). I actually wear
messy pigtails instaed of my usual polished ponytail. Basically
something very strange has happened to me and anyone who knew me in
Tulsa is going to completely freak out by the time they see me again in
March when I come for a visit.
