MONDAY 2 FEBRUARY – Monday’s always seem to be admin day. Start slowing, plan for the week and build momentum. And it seems to be the best day for avoiding triggers and negativity. Where everyone else moans their way back to work, I just avoid the ‘Monday Club’ and think what I can achieve this week. Since the start of the year I’m trying to set goals in different areas of my life. To make recovery invigorating and fun. Kick starting a new me, the future, without addiction and mental health issues. Had a disappointing county Dual-Diagnosis pathways focus group last Friday. It just showed how much work needs to be done, and how some people try papering over the cracks. But then, they’re not the ones suffering on a daily basis or getting evermore frustrated at the lack of effective services delivery. But I’ve been reliably informed that my role as champion of service users in the county is far from over. It’s pretty amazing that here we are in 2009 and there’s only one Dual-Diagnosis project in the county, providing just six beds, and no priority for people resident in the county. The fight must and will go on.
