Ticked off

Well actually not ticked off, but the tick is off. I thought ticked of was a catchy title.  Anyway, yesterday I'm about to clean my cats ears and I notice a white bump on her. On closer inspection, I realize its a tick feeding on her. She's an indoor cat and never had one before. We have been burning wood lately and I'm assuming a tick came off the wood and jumped on her.

Brandi, I tried the soap and cotton ball trick and it did not work.  I tried pulling it off with treezers, but Shelby cried. I didn't know what to do, so I covered the tick with globs of vaseline. About 90 minutes later my husband came home and he attempted to take the tick of with tweezers. Because of the vaaeline, the tick was easier to remove.  The cat now has a red bump where the tick was feeding.  I am just so glad I noticed it. I usually only clean her ears a couple of times a month.  I don't know what made me decide to do it yesterday.

It was very disappointing.  We haven't lit a fire in the woodstove since the episode, as we are afraid to bring another one into the house.

Poor Shelby! And it's really disturbing to find a tic on an indoor cat!

Make sure you and your hubby check each other thoroughly, too. That might be fun, actually!

Hi, I actually tried to the other day and it didnt work for me either. I have in the past done that, but I still had to pull it a little bit. I will have to remember the vaseline thing!

well be careful because the head could still be in the skin. put some salt on the red bump to make sure the head of the tick is completely gone..it might cause the cat to get upset because the salt will sting...but it's for it's own good.

good luck :)
