How would you define a real readhead?

VERY STRICTLY AND LOGICALLY SPEAKING: someone who has 'red' (just what is and is not 'red' hair is better left for some other thread) hair somewhere on their HEAD. So under this strict definition, someone with no red-component whatsoever in their scalp and/or facial hair but with red hair somewhere else on their body would not logically 'qualify' as a redhead, lol. ;-) In a less strict sense, a "real redhead" is someone who is 'phenotypically red haired;' or in other words, someone who has 'red looking hair' (in one of the generally accepted shades of 'red') that is rooted (no pun intended, lol ;-D ) in their personal DNA/genetics. This is not the case with an 'unreal-' or 'bottle redhead.' But, this said, it IS possible for 'dyed redheads' to be 'carriers' for red hair by genotype; meaning, that they genetically descend from red haired (and 'frecklers,' i.e., persons with freckle-capable skin) ancestors and have the potential to procreate red haired offspring/children. Of course, most persons with natural red hair are both phenotypical and genotypical 'redheads.'

What you state here is very normal/typical for redheads in general; because when it comes to extended families the '100% red haired family' is practically non-existent. When it comes to your family, specifically, y'all definitely have a 'red strain' going, gentically speaking. =)

Most redheads have blue eyes and, of course, 'bright' or 'pale' skin. Since you have FRECKLES you have 1/2 of the overall 'pale-AND-red genetic coin,' so to speak. ;-) For most folks, freckles and red hair are genetically 'bound' or opposite sides of the same 'genetic coin;' so if you have one trait by phenotype ('shown-trait'), then you have the OTHER trait too even if only under the 'surface' or by genotype. Also, since you say you have TONS of freckles, that speaks VOLUMES about you genetically too; meaning, that the odds are probably HIGH that you could have red haired children hinging in part on the DNA of the person you procreate with.

and my hair was Irish red when I was a child. When I grew up I lost most of the red hair. I don't know why. Now my hair is a mixture of dark blond and copper-blond. More copper in summer, darker in fall.

I've never heard the phrase 'Irish red' in reference to a shade of red...I guess you mean you had 'flaming' or 'intensely red' hair as a child...I need to commit this shade description to memory! lol. ;-D Since you apparently had intensely red hair as a child AND are now heavily freckled, then you are probably a carrier for 2 red-related alleles of the MC1R gene...I won't bore you with a genetic discussion of this though, lol. ;-D If you describe having a 'copper' component to your hair now, as an adult, then it seems to me that you still qualify as a 'redhead' at least to a minimal degree--such things are matters of OPINION varying from person to person anyway.

I dye my hair natural red (no cherry), because I like it and seems to me natural.

Pale/freckled persons can always 'pull off' dying red and to the vast majority of persons walking the streets such persons look naturally red haired. But in your case, you HAD red hair in the past and seemingly STILL carry a natural red-component to your other blonde; so it seems to me you have/are merely ENHANCING what's left of your red hair to appear more red-looking. In your case and IMO, not only does it 'seem' natural it IS! natural. =)

But, what am I? And why did I lost the red hair?

IMO, you are STILL a redhead in a phenotypical sense (minimally) and ABSOLUTELY! a carrier for red hair genotypically
As for loosing red hair or any other hair color, THAT'S JUST LIFE! ;-D We ALL CHANGE physically in so many senses over time, very much including pigmentation too, Some 'gifted' redheads 100% naturally maintain their flaming-red or 'orange-red' locks RIGHT UP until they start to LOOSE IT ALL due to ageing and the emergence of white (or what most folks call 'gray') hair. So, don't feel bad about it, sweetheart, because EVERY SINGLE REDHEAD on this site is going to loose their ruddy colors ULTIMATELY either by seniority or death...as the French say "C'est la Vie." =D
