It was formed in Canada and was considered a Canadian band as three of five were Canadian in it initial beginnings or atleast what was to become The Band.  Ronnie Hawkins and Levon Helm were from America, from the South as it were, Robbie Robertson, Rick Danko and Richard Manuel were Canadian. This band was called Ronnie Hawkins and the Hawks.  The Hawks (Levon, Robertson, Danko and Manuel) with Bruce Bruno and Jerry Penfound left and formed Levon Helm Sextet but changed to  Levon and the Hawks in 1964. They changed their name again to the Canadian Squires when Bruno and Penfound left the band. After that they worked as Bob Dylan's live band and so on and so on and so on. The birth of The Band did not take place overnight but Ronnie Hawkins and the Hawks was where it started. Yes I do consider The Band Canadian as it was born in Canada.

Rush is an obvious one.  Bryan Adams, Neil Young, Rufus Wainwright, Aldo Nova, Alanis Morisette, Biff Naked, Michael Buble, Holy Cole, Triumph, Diana Krall, Avril Lavigne (or however you spell it), Loreena McKennitt, Oscar Peterson.

That's all I can think of.

Besides the Mackenzies (Bob and Doug)? How about Rush?
