So, I hear this new movie "The Golden Compass" was based off books written by an atheist. I also heard, he shoves his beliefs down your throat. *shrug* Like something about "killing God". How can you kill something you don't believe?

yea, what even better is that the church advises parents to check it out before taking their kids. which is just and all then there are some other churches that are like 'you cannot see this devil worshipping movie"

I'm sorry, but if you don't want Atheism shoved down your throat, then don't go see the movie. If I didn't want to have Christianity shoved down my throat I wouldn't go see The Passion of the Christ.

I watched a trailer to it.. There was a cool Polar Bear...fight? Is it a fantasy movie? 'Cause if you go by that, then let's refer to The Chronicles of Narnia...'cause that was pretty symbolic of Christ too.

I am currently reading the book. Haven't seen the movie yet.

I do not get the god killing/devil slant...AT ALL. It sounds like a bunch of extremest bs. Remember, Harry Potter too is considered blasphemy by some. If you are one of those, then you probably wont like this one either.

 It is a lovely fantasy story with a strong, curious, young girl discovering her place in the world.

 Oh so threatening to the delicate fabric of society!

Atheists will make movies about their beliefs, Christians will make movies about their beliefs. It's the beauty of choice. I'm a Christian man and I don't see anything wrong with seeing this movie. Get out of it what you want. This movie is probably geared towards kids right? To tell you the truth, how many kids are going to get the ideas that are shown? I bet half the adults wouldn't either. Its just extremists on both sides of the spectrum here.

I won't see this movie just because I hate fantasy movies. I nearly feel asleep through Lord of the Rings, and can't stand Harry Potter... although I will say I love the movie Pans Labyrinth and The Never Ending Story haha.

And while I'm on the subject of Atheism and the original post here... How can you kill something you don't believe in? I would say the atheist involved in this particular movie is probably closer to an agnostic and is trying to convince themselves that God does not exist... but I'm so un-politically correct it's ridiculous. HAHA   I'm a redhead, I like to start fights.
