It's good that this is being talked about now. Just to be clear, I've got nothing against strong opinions. And for the record I happen to LOVE nazis.
TheCarrie episode raised a lot of good questions about free speech for me, and many of you guys as well. It's not an easy thing to make policy on. The Internet's a squeaky squiggly thing, and especially so on a social network: is it speech? Is it action? Is a profile public or is it private? I don't think any of these questions has a simple answer.
There's plenty on redhedd that I don't approve of personally. But it's not for me to run around telling people what is and isn't appropriate. I think that's better left to you guys. For the most part. I'm about 98.3% laissez-faire. And 1.7% "I'm gonna git you sucka".
But seriously, in a community, those who behave inappropriately are ostracized. That's how we're socialized. I act like a duckhead, you turn your back on me. I like people's fronts better so I stop. Voila! Hobbes had it right.
