Hails! I'm not sure how many black metallers there are out there seeing as how they're rare enough when the entire population is involved, and I'm sure even more rare amongst such a minority already! But here's something you might be interested in! From time to time on Wednesdays I host a black metal radio show on 103.7CFBU here in the Niagara Region. But you don't have to live here to check it out! Here's a link to an online stream: http://www.cfbu.ca/listen.m3u So please come listen in! At the very least you'll get to hear what I sound like, which is always interesting when you only know people from the internet. So, if you love kvlt grim black metal, or you're just curious to put a voice to the face, then come give us a listen tonight at 10pm EASTERN time. Also, if you have any requests, send them to me, or if you're a band that wants some radio play, contact me and we'll work something out!

I love loud clash boom bang chuggachugga. I don't know that it would be snugly classified as black. maybe more like blue. or red. yes. that's it. I like red metal. here's my request. please play: coalesce - grain of salt and acid bath - jezebel What is black anyway? is that like incomprehensible gutteral chuggachuggachugga? I'm more prone to hysterics than guts. just sayin'.

Ooooh, Acid Bath. Good choice. I love Acid Bath. However, those tunes certainly aren't black metal, so I'll have to play them on next weeks normal metal show. If you want to know what black metal is, be sure to tune in in about an hour! It's often described as an 'acquired taste', but I'll play some genre epitomizing tunes tonight as well as some more broad influenced bands. Black metal has become such an umbrella term in recent years that it's really been opened up to interpretation of the listener as to what's black and what's not. You'll hear the differences in some of the stuff I play!

You're not technically a black metal band until you've blown off the head of another member and made stew from his brain and a necklace from his skull fragments. (true story)

I like some metal, but I'm not an expert and doesn t know many bands, what I like the most is viking melodic..... death metal. They always describe themselves with many epithets. I like Ensiferum, Turisas, Wintersun, Norther, Eluveitie, Cadacross etc. This kind of bands. Do you play such bands time to time or is it exclusively black metal?

Did anyone listen in? If so, what did you think? Had a few technical difficulties due to my co-host being a spaz, but otherwise we got through all the tracks we wanted. And The_Happy_Tim, no one actually BLEW someones head off. The story you're referring to is that of Mayhem. Lead vocalist Dead (ironic) was found dead after having shot himself in the head. Upon his friend and band mater Euronymous returning home, instead of calling the police, he instead went to the nearest corner store and grabbed a camera. He then positioned some items around the body to make it 'grimmer' and took pictures. One of the pictures because the famed album cover of their bootleg-made-official live album Dawn of the Black Hearts. It was then RUMOURED (but I believe it) that the rest of the members of Mayhem made stew out of chunks of the brain and had skull fragments put on necklaces. Coincidentally, I played the song Funeral Fog by Mayhem on tonight's show which is off of their first album featuring the now dead Dead. And thegoldenstaff, I'll be sure to play some Astarte or Thorr's Hammer for you next time! Anyway, yeah. If anyone listened in, let me know what you thought. Thanks!

Actually, you're in luck my friend! Normally it's just a standard metal show, but once in a while I get to flex my black metal muscle and do a special. However, on the 23rd I'm doing a viking/folk special that'll be right up your alley! In fact, it's to celebrate the upcoming PaganFest tour, so you can look forward to DEFINITELY hearing Ensiferum, Turisas, Eluveitie, Tyr, Folkearth and a slew of others! Make sure that when I make a thread about that one in the next couple weeks that you make some requests and I'll be sure to play them on-air!

That all depends on what you consider to be Black Metal. Anyone say Cradle of Filth are black metal and they need a slap lol. I like DECENT black metal bands, like: - 1349
- Drudkh
- Summoning
- Burzum
- Anaal Nathrakh
- Gorgoroth
- Satanic Warmaster
- Nokturnal Mortum
- Mayhem
- Darkthrone
- Immortal
- Graveland
- Naglfar
- Khold
- Hate Forest
- Temnozor
My list goes on. I'm more an atmospheric black metal fan. i.e. the styles of Drudkh and (pre-prison) Burzum appeal to me most, the long-winded, repetative low-tempo songs with sparce lyrics are great. But its hard to find bands like that, its a niche. Give these guys a listen, they come pretty close to it.: Also http://www.blackmetalradio.com - a free online flash-based radio, brilliant really, especially when at college/school/work and you dont have any mp3s handy. *edit* and Acid Bath were Grindcore, shame he died really, they were good.
