Crystal cavern.
Posted On 09/29/2008 04:52:50 by Lunarstorm777

So, in a few days, a show regarding one of the most impressive caves ever unearthed will be shown.... I am talking about none other than the Naica Mine of Chihuahua, Mexico.... Better known to the few people that actually care of such thing, as the giant crystal cave....

As the name implies, it is a cavern with huge crystal formations, some reaching almost 50 feet long.... Pictures paint a scene almost like something straight out of a bad scifi movie, but in complete reality.... Its astonishing what nature can do when left alone for a few million years heh. One thing I'd like the point out is that around 2 miles below the cavern, there is a magma chamber keeping temperatures in the cave at around 140 degrees farenheit.... Pretty dayum warm lol. This is part of why the cave was formed in the first place... I won't bore everyone with the details I find enticing, but there are a few passages I've found that make me a bit confused / curious..... Have a look...

"While the vertical drop is approximately 1000 feet, the drive is almost a half mile long. The heat steadily increases and women have been observed to begin "glowing". The truck stops in front of a concrete wall with a steel door. The intense heat can prevent brain functioning."

I can only imagin in 140 degree heat, most women would probably be glowing fairly well.... More likely on the verge of spontanious combustion....

"When inside the great cathedral of crystals, the pressure of intense heat create a gamut of emotions and perhaps hallucinations. One can only remain for a short period of time."

Hmmm your surrounded by giant crystals in 140 degree heat 1000 feet in the earth..... I can only imagine I'd be talking to charlie and his magical leaplaradon (sp)....

Apparently this is not the only site thats had record crystals found either.... A site in spain has uncovered a geode big enough to fit 10 people inside....

Anyway, just something going through my head right now and I thought I would share.... Oh and heres one of the links to the mexican crystal cave....

So, to all of you who laughed at the scene in "The core", where they puncture a huge underground geode..... Looks like it just might not be quite as far fetched an idea anymore, huh?
