(Supermodels - Kendall Payne)
You know what amazes me? Answer: lots of things, I'm a simple kinda girl. But what I'm actually talking about currently is how superficial people can be. I was having a conversation with a friend last night and I can't remember how we got onto it but we ended up talking about how important looks are. My view runs, I really don't care if my friends are "attractive". Obviously if I am entering in a relationship with someone - chance would be a fine thing! - I would want to find them attractive but I find that a good personality is it's own attraction. I have known guys that I haven't really found attractive until I've really got to know them and found out how lovely they are. My friend, Dan, on the other hand said that looks are more important than personality. He actually said that. Apparently even though I maintain that I will take personality over looks, according to Dan if a guy wasn't attractive then he wouldn't have the chance to prove how good his personality was...which takes the odd view that I either only meet people as a potential date, which certainly isn't true or that I wouldn't be interested in getting to know someone I don't find attractive, which again, isn't true.
Ever since I have known Dan he has had the annoying habit of judging people on their looks - not always kindly! - and, for a smart guy, he takes the somewhat stupid stance of assuming that his judgement is correct without hesitation. I'm sure we are all guilty of judging someone based on their looks at time - the homeless guy bugging you for money when you're trying to get to work or whatever - but most people, I hope, wouldn't make a habit out of it. And I would certainly hope that most people would be open to changing their judgement when it is found to be wrong.
Only judge people by their looks and you will miss out on some amazing people because you don't deem them good enough for you. Think Shallow Hal.
Honestly, I don't even know how I've managed to pass my friend's test! I am certainly not some regulation hottie. I can only assume he was dazzled by my wit and charm. Ahem.
