Foreign Love of Redheads

I don't know if any of ye kight have experienced, maybe this is actually a location thing. I'm Irish, I've lived in Ireland (Co. Cork) my entire life. Since I started school all those years ago, I was always teased and mocked about my red hair, yeah, grand, I got over that. But the older I got, the tighter the hair I got, I thought it looked better. So at one point, it was a 0 all over. But it was over 6 years ago I started growing my hair.

I went to Poland for a couple of gigs, back in 2008, and me and the lads were waiting around at some point in a town that i cant even remember but i was sittin there, doing nothing and old man who passed, just stopped in the street and GLARED, I mean proper what-the-finding.ucle.christie's.knitting aghast at what was in front of him.

Now that would be the most extreme case of it, but anytime I've gone abroad I get complements galore about my hair, but yet back home in Ireland....

....still the butt of of peoples jokes who cant gt to grips with their short comings

English scum here, the piss taking is pretty much world wide as far as I can tell apart from Japs who are always taking photos of me instead of hurling abuse.

 gingaryism??yeah, pretty f. u. c. k. i. n. g. childish, its a hair colour not an evolution

kinda funny to see how it's a fellow Irish man to see that point

Hey man, how’s it goin? Great to hear from another Red Haired Guy from Ireland!

I don't think it’s only a Cork thing - I've experienced red hair prejudice crap in a number of places around Ireland. (not totally sure about the situation in other countries etc.)

My experience - got teased a bit when growing up but as I got older and because of my size i.e. over 6ft and pretty intimidating to other guys I guess and by not taking crap - the teasing sort of ceased but I still used to feel a subtle contempt towards me and/or I was ostracised in certain group situations etc. and still got random comments from strangers at a distance about my hair colour etc. skillfully stopping just short of full-blown 'racism'. I might add that it came from both guys and girls.

As I've said before in my previous post - I think Red Haired guys especially need to be promoted in a good light on T.v. / Movies / Fashion etc. more, stop calling each other 'Ginger'/redhead etc., stop playing up to the red haired clown role, have self-respect, don't take crap and I think that will filter down to the general public situation.

I think us Guys should stick together in Ireland(and around the world), not take crap and find some good hearted people to be around!

P.S. Tuatha Dé Danann = Proud and Awesome Red Haired people (if you didn’t already know)!

See ya around!
